Alayna Ernster is a Ph.D. student at the University of Florida pursuing a degree in Rehabilitation Science. During the period of 2017-2019, she was mentored by Dr. Ianessa Humbert and her research focused on swallowing physiology and motor learning. Alayna's research focus has since shifted and she is now mentored by Dr. Deidre Pereira from the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Florida. Alayna's current research focuses on the value of holistic, biopsychosocial care to improve the quality of life of patients diagnosed with brain cancer and their caregivers. She is also interested in team-based care, implementation science, and the role of religiosity/spirituality in health.
