Description: Ultrasound is emerging as an accessible, non-invasive adjunct, expanding the toolkit of existing modalities for dysphagia assessment and management. This webinar covers the application of static ultrasound imaging techniques, including quantitative muscle ultrasound to evaluate underlying dysphagia mechanisms, and real-time visualization of salivary glands to guide botulinum toxin injections. It also covers dynamic evaluation, including assessment of vocal fold movement and hyoid displacement, as both a screening and biofeedback tool.

Presenter Bio:
Jodi Allen, PhD, is a Speech and Language Therapist at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, and chairs the International Speech and Language Therapy Ultrasound Group. Her work focuses on quantitative muscle ultrasound for assessing swallowing function, measuring muscle structure and function to inform clinical decisions. She has advanced ultrasound as a bedside tool for evaluating swallowing-related musculature, training clinicians in standardised techniques, and remains active in international education promoting quantitative ultrasound in dysphagia practice.
