A Paradigm Shift in Dysphagia Rehabilitation

A Paradigm Shift in Dysphagia Rehabilitation

RehabilitationWebinarsDysphagia CafeMarch 19, 2025

A Fresh Perspective on Dysphagia Treatment
This webinar offers a fresh perspective on dysphagia rehabilitation, focusing on how insights from spinal injury recovery and neurorehabilitation can transform clinical practices. Rather than being centered on spinal cord injury, this talk highlights the unexpected ways that stepping outside the traditional field of swallowing disorders has shaped a new approach to treating dysphagia.

Exploring New Areas of Research
Over the past five years, Dr. Alicia Vose’s research presented in the webinar has explored areas such as respiratory neurorehabilitation, spinal plasticity, and neurotherapeutics—topics often overlooked in typical dysphagia coursework. Through studying other motor systems, the speaker has gained a deeper understanding of how to enhance clinical care for swallowing disorders.

Five Key Insights for SLPs
During the session, the Dr. Vose will share five key insights from the broader field of neurorehabilitation that challenged existing assumptions about dysphagia. These insights will also offer practical, evidence-based strategies that speech-language pathologists (SLPs) can integrate into their clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.

Practical Strategies to Improve Patient Care
This webinar aims to expand the horizons of dysphagia rehabilitation by incorporating novel approaches from spinal injury recovery and neurorehabilitation. SLPs will walk away with actionable tools to enhance their treatment of swallowing disorders and better support their patients.

Don’t Miss Out!
Don’t miss the opportunity to learn from Dr. Vose and gain new strategies to improve dysphagia rehabilitation and overall patient care.

Access the continuing education webinar: “A paradigm shift in dysphagia rehabilitation: Insights from spinal injury and recovery” today and start your deep dive into dysphagia rehabilitation.
