This introductory 1-hour webinar is intended for the undergraduate or graduate student, the new SLP who wants a refresher, the SLP who works in the school and wants to get back into the medical field or the SLP who wants to nerd out one more time to a a beginner’s presentation. This webinar will touch on acute care, dysphagia, alternative airways, voice and more. This webinar may springboard into more specific future sessions on specialized topic areas within medical speech pathology. This webinar series is not intended to replace your university course work but to enrich it.

AUDIENCE: Undergraduate, graduate students, Clinical Fellows, Clinicians who would like to transition from school-based SLP to medical-based SLP.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Lisa Klinger, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S is a MedicalSpeech Language Pathologist who joins the Dysphagia Cafe family with 15-years of acute care experience, with speciality in swallowing disorders, head and neck cancer rehabilitation, and voice disorders. She holds her BS in Communication Science from Boston University, her MS in Communication Disorders from Hunter College in New York City, and earned her Board Certification in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders in 2016. Lisa currently works at a major, level I trauma center in the heart of Los Angeles, California, and serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Communication Disorders at California State University – Los Angeles, where she teaches Medical Speech Language Pathology at the graduate level. With a strong passion for working with underserved populations, Lisa brings a unique perspective and joins us to share her experience with much care and a touch of humor.
